God demands "First Fruits"

The Holy Spirit of God the Father has a personality just like any person.
He has very real needs and requires all of your attention and a lot of loving care or he will not be at all happy and he will be glad to let you know it.

One thing that the Father's Holy Spirit requires is what are called "first fruits", he demands that you ALWAYS think of him first. As soon as you wake up and your feet hit the floor he will demand that you drop to your knees and offer him a prayer. The Father has spent the whole night patiently waiting for you to wake up, he loves you and would like to hear from you before you get started on anything else. Jesus said "only one thing is needed" (Luke 10:42) and what he was referring to was that everything in the world is under the direct control of the Father and therefore you should not be worrying about anything other than whether you are pleasing to God the Father or whether you are not. Communing with the Holy Spirit through active prayer or just quietly sitting in solitude listening for the Fathers soft still voice (1Kings 19:12) is one of the main methodologies of interacting with God and should be your first and highest priority. After the first fruits are taken care of then you can go on to take care of the mundane secular tasks of the day.

God created in the first place humans for camaraderie and to increase his pleasure. We are an interesting project of his. God's biggest and most repeated complaint is that all his children are "stiff necked". Note Acts 7:51, "You are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears and you always resist the Holy Spirit, just as your fathers did, so do you". And Exodus 32:9, "And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff necked people". At least 15 times throughout the bible God makes this complaint about his ignoring children. What does this mean to be "stiff necked?" It means that we never look up. We ignore God. We take God for granted. All God wants is to move into the forefront of our mind on a regular basis. He wants you to bend your neck. And look up once in a while. Don't be stiff necked.

In the bible the Father describes himself as "a jealous God", (Exodus 34:14) in other words he is jealous of all of your attention and wants you to always keep him in the forefront of your mind. You will enter into a relationship with him that is very similar to a marriage and God is not shy about being a very high maintenance partner. There are a lot of offsetting fringe benefits however, for instance there is the whole eternal life with the Father and all of your loved ones in paradise thing. Then there is the fact that God the Father, the Creator and Master of all the Heavens and all the Earth is now your best and closest friend and at the very minimum you will never have even one moment of loneliness ever again. It seems that spending some time with him and showing him his due and proper respect and attention is not all that much to ask. (see - Due and Propers)
